University Update
Update on Provost Search 3-28-08
Friends and Colleagues:
On February 15, President Murano emailed you concerning the establishment and initial activities of the search advisory committee (SAC) for the position of Executive Vice President for Academics and Provost. As chair of the SAC, I will periodically email the university community to provide an update on the search. Working with the executive search firm, Isaacson Miller, SAC members currently are identifying prospects and beginning our review of information on possible candidates. We have received a number of nominations; however, we are also asking you to submit names and contact information on potential candidates. To facilitate the submission of nominees, a nomination form has been established on our search website. Within one business day of the submission of your nomination, I will send out a letter encouraging your nominee to apply; the search firm also will be informed of the nominations. The committee is committed to identifying the strongest candidates for this position and strongly encourages the university community to use your professional networks to further assist us in the search process.
While we are working to move the search process along in as timely a manner as possible, our primary concern is to identify top prospects and encourage their application. In light of our search-related activities, we believe that on-campus interviews of finalists will not take place until June. Once dates for on-campus interviews of finalists have been established, we will inform the university community. The committee also will work to ensure that there are opportunities for you to interact with and provide feedback on finalists.
To access information on the position announcement, attributes for the provost position, SAC membership and the minutes of our committee meetings, I also recommend that you go to our website.
Thanks in advance for your efforts to help with this important search.
